Morris, MN - The Polars football team headed on the road this Saturday for a contest with the UMAC leading UM-Morris Cougars and fell 56-23.
Crown received the first possession of the contest and proceeded to drive down the field on six plays and cap off the drive with a 34 yard field goal from
Brock Knick. The Cougars then rattled off four straight scoring drives and scored 28 unanswered points to move the score to 28-3. The Polars got the ball with 12:20 to play in the second quarter and put together a ten play 60 yard drive that ended in 17 yard touchdown run from
Jonathan Wamsley. The Cougars once again answered with three straight scores and the lead was stretched to 49-17 at the end of the half. The Polars ended up scoring twice in the second half and only allowed one touchdown in the second half but it was not enough as the final score read 56-23 in the Cougars favor.
Offensively
Diego Narezo went 23-37 and totaled 261 yards passing with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.
Jonathan Wamsley carried the ball 19 times for 127 yards and averaged 6.7 yards per carry.
Terry Warner and Christof Seneca both totaled over 70 yards receiving on the day. Wamsley also had 61 yards receiving on 4 reception including a receiving touchdown.
Rudy Criner finished the day with 14 total tackles and 6 solo tackles. Three other Polars finished with 10 tackles on the day including
Gabe Banks,
Jared Pardee, and
Junior Doe.
Logan Disabella finished with two pass breakups.
The Polars fall to 1-7 on the season and 1-3 in UMAC play and will finish the season on the road Saturday, November 11th at Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois.
