St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Football team faced off with the Martin Luther College Knights on Saturday and lost 13-3.
Early in the first quarter the Knights struck first scoring on an 8 play, 78 yard drive capped off by a five yard touchdown run. Three turnovers ensued between the two teams before the end of the first half. The second half saw Crown score the first points on a field goal from
Brock Knick to cut the Knights lead to 7-3. An interception and a fumble from the Polars offense gave Martin Luther the opportunity to kick two field goals and move the score to a 13-3 a two score difference with a few minutes remaining and the Knights came out on top 13-3.
Diego Narezo completed 17 passes on 37 attempts and totaled 208 yards passing.
Caleb Freelen had a career day running the football as he finished with 92 rushing yards on 18 rushes.
Isaiah Anfield led the receiving with 7 receptions for 108 yards receiving.
Terry Warner also notched 5 receptions for 62 yards.
The story of the day was 18 tackles from
Jared Pardee which tied the single game school record for total tackles.
Gabe Banks and
Nathan Tomlinson both notched 11 tackles each.
Logan Disabella,
Kevin Lewis, and Tomlinson all finished with 2 pass break ups.
Crown falls to 1-6 on the season and 1-2 in UMAC play and will return to action next week on the road at Minnesota Morris for a 1pm game on Saturday, October 28th.
