St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars Women's Basketball team faced off with the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves on Tuesday finishing on top by a score of 56-51.
The Polars started off hot after two quick threes from
Amy Martius and
Hazel Serapio. Followed by an
Isabelle Sager jumper putting Crown up 11-2 to start the game. Crown kept the nine-point lead ahead 19-10. The second quarter saw much of the same, with Crown out in front maintaining the nine point lead up until the break.
The second half found the Polars holding on to the lead as the Prairie Wolves cut the lead to 3 in the last few moments. Two late buckets by
Shauna Thompson and Sager led Crown to a 56-51 win.
Sager led Crown with 13 points, followed by 10 points by
Madi Hecox, and 9 points by
McKenzie Latzke. Thompson led the Polars on the boards with 12 and Sager added 10 points to complete another double-double, her second of the season.
Crown shot 20-56 from the field going 35.7% and 10-28 from three point range shooting 35.7%.
The Polars move to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play and will return home on Thursday, January 5
th to take on the Mount Mary Blue Angels at 5pm.
