St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars Women's Basketball team faced off with the Mount Mary Blue Angels on Tuesday finishing on top by a score of 66-59.
The Polars struggled early on missing on their first eleven shots, their first bucket coming with 5:37 to go in the first quarter. After a few jumpers from 
McKenzie Latzke and 
Madi Hecox the Polars were back on track climbing back into the game down 8-7 with 4 minutes to go. A neck and neck run ended the first quarter with the score settling at 15-14 in the Blue Angels favor. In the second quarter both teams tightened up their defensive play as Mount Mary scored eleven and the Polars nine as the first half ended at 26-23, Mount Mary in the lead.
The second half found the Polars winning both quarters with the first possession ending in a Latzke three sparking their stagnant offense. Crown scored 26 in the fourth quarter getting some clutch shots from both Latzke and Hecox in the last few minutes. The Polars ended up on top 66-59.
Hecox led Crown with 27 points and added 13 rebounds for a double-double. 
Isabelle Sager grabbed another 10 rebounds to bring her season total to 58. Hecox totaled her season high in points, Latzke scored 21 as well for her season high.
Crown shot 31.1% from the field going 23-74, and 21.6% from three-point range 8-37.
The Polars move to 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play and will return home on Saturday, January 7
th to take on the Minnesota Morris Cougars for the UMAC Home Opener at 4:45pm.
