Morris, Minn. - The Crown Women's Basketball team faced off with the Minnesota Morris Cougars on Saturday falling by a score of 67-51.
The first quarter saw Crown fall behind after Morris went on a 13-9 run to start the game. Two late buckets from the Cougars and the Morris led the first quarter. The second quarter saw Crown score 15 points but it wasn't enough to gain the lead and the score at half ended 35-24. The third quarter woes returned with Crown only scoring nine points. The Polars had their best stretch of the game to finish scoring 18 points in the 4th quarter, but it was not enough to bring the Polars back into the game and Crown fell by a score of 67-51.
Crown's scoring was led by
McKenzie Latzke and
Isabelle Sager with both of them notching 12 points. Raeline Smalley also notched 8 points for Crown.
Madi Hecox led the rebounding for Crown totaling 7 boards, and Hecox also added 4 assists to lead to Crown.
The Polars shot 35% from the field going 21-60 and 24% from three-point range going 6-25. Crown totaled 16 points in the paint and 17 points off of turnovers.
Crown falls to 9-7 on the season and 4-4 in UMAC play and will look to make a conference playoff push at home next weekend facing off with North Central and Northwestern on the weekend. The first of those two coming on Friday, February 3rd at 7:15pm.
