Morris, Minn. - The Crown Men's Basketball team faced off with the Minnesota Morris Cougars on the road, falling by a score of 79-68.
The first half saw Crown take a strong lead after staying close through the first ten minutes. The Polars took a 13 point lead with 4:46 left in the first half after a few buckets from
Seth Royston and
Jacob Masek. Crown ended the first half ahead 42-33 after a solid first half.
The Crown men stayed up early in the second half trading baskets with the Cougars. A run by Morris put Crown behind by 2 with just over eight minutes to play. The Polars offense hit a cold spell only scoring 7 points through an eight minute span. The Cougars put together a strong end of the game push and Crown struggled to keep up.
Three Polars hit double digits in points including
Jacob Van Dam with 14,
Seth Royston with 13, and
Cade Carroll with 11.
Jacob Masek added 5 assists to lead Crown. Both Royston and Carroll tabbed 8 rebounds to lead the effort. Royston also added 4 blocks to his ever growing season total.
Crown shot 37.8% from the field going 28-74 and shot 22.9% from the three point line going 8-35. Crown totaled 32 points in the paint and 13 second chance points.
The Polars fall to 11-8 on the season and 2-6 in conference play. Crown will look to spark a UMAC playoff push at home to face off with North Central and Northwestern, the first of those on Friday, Febuary 3rd at 5:30pm.
