Mankato, Minn. – The Crown Women's Basketball team faced off with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Saturday falling by a score of 74-66.
The first quarter saw Bethany Lutheran jump out to an early lead going on a 21-9 run to start the game. Buckets by Thompson and Martius to end the quarter brought the score to 26-15. The second quarter saw the Vikings stretch the lead to 45-31 to end the half. The third quarter was the best quarter for the best with Crown scoring 19 and holding Bethany to 12. The Polars could not quite scratch their way back into the game, losing their first game in over a month.
Crown's scoring was led by
Madi Hecox and
Isabelle Sager with both of them notching 14 points.
McKenzie Latzke and
Shauna Thompson both added 10 points.
Isabelle Sager led the rebounding for the Polars with 9.
The Polars shot 45.5% from the field going 25-55 and 6.3% from three-point range going 1-16. Crown totaled 34 rebounds on the day.
Crown falls to 9-6 on the season and 4-3 in UMAC play and will head to Minnesota-Morris taking on the Cougars on Saturday, January 28
th at 4:45pm.
