New Ulm, Minn. - The Crown College Polars Women faced off with the Martin Luther Knights Friday on the road coming out on top 61-54.
The first quarter started even with both teams having a decent quarter with Martin Luther up 2 at the break. The second was a much different story for Crown as an 18 point quarter led by Latzke and Hecox gave Crown a decent lead at half up on Martin Luther by a score of 26-16 in Crown's favor.
Crown held on to that lead for the rest of the game. With the Knights bearing down on them the Polars held their own fending off the second half comeback with the final score 61-54, Crown on top.
Madi Hecox and McKenzie Latzke led the scoring for Crown with Hecox scoring 16 and Latzke 15. Amy Martius led the rebounding for Crown adding 10 on the evening. Hecox also added 4 assists and 3 steals.
The Polars Women move to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in UMAC play, chasing down what could be a record-breaking season with just one more win the Polars will tie the season record for wins since the Polars joined the NCAA in 2008. Crown travels to Bethany Lutheran in Mankato, Minnesota on Saturday and will take on the Vikings at 4:45pm.
