Polars Drop Home Contest to Yellowjackets 86-75

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Polars faced off with the Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets on Friday, falling by a score of 86-75.

The first half saw Cade Carroll back out on the floor for Crown as he provided an early spark scoring the first two buckets of the game for the Polars. The early run put Crown up by ten with the score in the Polars favor 16-6. A tightly contested rest of the first half put the Polars even at 39-39 to end the half. Crown led the entire first half staying out in front with a last second Yellowjackets shot falling to tie it up.

Early in the second half Superior jumped out in front going on a 14-4 run putting the score at 53-43 with 14 minutes to play. The Polars brought it to within 2 points cutting the score to 70-68 following a couple baskets from Seth Royston and Jacob Masek. Crown couldn't keep up in the last few minutes, ultimately falling by a score of 86-75.

Royston led the scoring and rebounding for Crown scoring 23 points and adding 9 rebounds. Cade Carroll scored 18 points, Jacob Van Dam and Jacob Masek both totaled 8. Masek also added 6 assists to add to his growing season total.

The Polars as a team shot 50% from the field going 30-60 and 20.8% from three-point range going 5-24. Crown as a team shot 71.4% from the free throw line going 10-14.

Crown looks to bounce back at home on Saturday, January 14th at 3pm taking on the Northland College Lumberjacks.
