St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown football team couldn't keep up with St. Scholastica on homecoming, falling to the former UMAC member school 63-14. The Polars fell behind 21-0 before getting on the board and then scored the games final points in the fourth quarter.
Crown got on the board with eight minutes remaining in the second quarter on a 25 yard touchdown strike from Elijah Odom to Terry Warner. That connection capped a seven-play, 59 yard drive as Crown looked for a way back into the game.
The Saints would score once more before the intermission to take a 28-6 halftime lead, then scored 35 unanswered points to open the second half en route to the big victory.
Crown scored on an impressive 16-play, 70 yard drive in the fourth quarter, with Josh Wallace rushing in from five yards out and Michael Downs catching the 2-point conversion. Crown had one more opportunity to put points on the board right at the end of the game, but were held just half a yard from paydirt as time expired.
Odom started and gave way to Diego Narezo with both quarterbacks going 13-27 on the day. Odom had three interceptions to go with his touchdown pass to Warner and threw for 106 yards. Narezo had 100 yards through the air, with no touchdowns and no picks. Keller Jackson came on for the final drive and completed three of four passes for 24 yards.
Warner once again led the Crown receiving corps, grabbing seven passes for 81 yards and the touchdown. Isaiah Anfield had six catches for 41 yards, while Robert Mirabile had five receptions for 36 yards.
Josh Wallace carried 16 times for 63 yards and touchdown and added four catches for 29 yards.
Quis Icon registered 12 tackles to lead the Polar defense, including two tackles for loss with Rudy Criner also hitting double-digits with 11 stops. The sophomore playmaker also added a half tackle for loss, two pass breakups, and a quarterback hurry to go along with 101 kick return yards including a 62 yard effort.
Noe Urrea had a fumble recovery for Crown's lone takeaway of the game.
The Polars are on the road next weekend as they travel to Wisconsin to face UW-Stout in their final non-conference game of the year.
