Auburndale, FL – Crown Baseball's first game in Florida was a back-and-forth affair with Rhode Island College ultimately coming out on top by a score of 7-4. Crown hit the ground running in the first inning, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead. The first run was driven in by
Kyle Schroedle on an infield single that drove in Devin Cowan-Wilson. The second run was scored on a sacrifice fly from
Mason Brock to score
Seth Betts.
Rhode Island College fought back to tie the game at 2 in the 2
nd inning before Crown retook the lead in the top of the 3
rd.
Rhys Dewick doubled down the left field line to score Schroedle and then Brock had his second sacrifice fly of the game to score Dewick to extend the lead to 4-2.
Crown would fail to score the rest of the way however as Rhode Island College scored 5 unanswered runs between the 4
th and 7
th innings to take a 7-4 lead which ended up being the final score. Crown is back at it tomorrow in Davenport, FL to take on Penn State Brandywine, first pitch is at 2:00 CST.
