Collegeville, MN – Crown baseball traveled to Collegeville on Sunday to take on MIAC foe Saint John's. Both games were hard fought and close throughout, unfortunately, Crown was unable to pick up a win in either game falling by scores of 3-1 and 6-5.
 
In game 1, 
Eric Newman game the Storm 6 strong innings, striking out 7 and giving up 3 runs although only 1 of them was earned. Saint John's struck for 2 right away in the bottom of the 1
st on a single to right and then again later on in the inning on a ground out to shortstop to push the lead to 2-0.
 
In the 3
rd, Saint John's would extend the lead on an RBI single up the middle to make it a 3-0 ballgame. Crown would get on the board in the 5
th on a solo shot to left field from 
Bailey Sarto. The homerun would decrease the lead to 2 but unfortunately, 1 run was all Crown could muster as they fell by a final score of 3-1 in game 1.
 
Game 2 was another hard fought, close game that saw the Crown offense come alive a bit for 5 runs. Crown would get the scoring started in the 1
st inning when 
Seth Betts scored on a passed ball to give Crown an early 1-0 lead. Saint John's would respond in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 1 on a sacrifice fly. The Johnnies would then tack on a couple more runs in the 2
nd and 4
th innings to extend the lead to 4-1.
 
Crown would respond however, in the 5
th Devyn Wilson-Cowan scored on a passed ball to cut the lead to 4-2. In the 7
th, Betts homered to left field, 
Rhys Dewick doubled down the left field line to score 
Kyle Schroedle, and Sarto singled up the middle to score 
Mason Brock to tie the game at 5 heading into the late innings. The game would remain tied until the 9
th inning, 
Brett Sutterby came on in relief for Crown and threw a scoreless inning in the bottom half of the 8
th. In the 9
th however, Saint John's hit a walk off homerun to left field to win the game 6-5.
 
The games yesterday move Crown's record to 7-6 on the year. The Storm will continue non-conference play on Friday when they travel to St. Peter to take on Gustavus. First pitch is at 1 o'clock.
