Davenport, FL - Crown baseball picks up its second straight win with a complete performance over Dominican University, winning by a score of 8-2.
The scoring got started in the 3rd inning when Crown catcher
Cody Csulak laid a bunt down that forced an errant throw down the first base line, this would allow for
Jack Becker to come in and score the first run of the ballgame. Later on in the 3rd inning,
Kyle Schroedle hit a two run bomb to give Crown an early 3-0 lead that they would never relinquish.Â
Dominican would tack a run on in the 4th but Crown would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Csulak hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and then
Devyn Wilson-Cowan drove in a run with an RBI groundout to score
Blake Boggs.
Rhys Dewick also had himself a game, in the 5th he smacked an RBI double to score
Mason Brock and then in the 7th he hit a massive two run home run right over the left field foul pole to give Crown an 8-1 lead. Dominican would tack a run on late but it ultimately wouldn't matter as Crown cruised to a win 8-2.
The pitching trio of Tyler Vancise,
Brett Sutterby, and
Jacob Van Dam were really sharp as well. Vancise went 4 innings, giving up only 1 run in that time while striking out 5. Sutterby was great as well, giving the Storm 3 really solid innings of shutout ball while also striking out 5. Van Dam would come in and close things out for Crown in the 8th and 9th inning giving up just 1 run in 2 innings of work.
The win moves Crown to 5-4 on the year, they will wrap up their Florida trip on Friday with a couple of 9 inning games against Oberlin College and Lancaster Bible College.
