Masek’s Double-Double and Royston’s 23 Points Leads Polars to Win Over Poets

Whittier, CA - Crown faced off with the Whittier Poets in the first matchup of their California trip coming out victorious by a score of 74-67.

After a close first 5 minutes in which saw four different Polars notch their first points of the game, Crown lunged ahead 15-9. Whittier quickly closed the gap keeping the score within three for the majority of the half. Late buckets by Carter Behne and PJ Ebeling put the Polars out in front 37-31 at the break.

A strong start to the second half after a few buckets from Seth Royston and Jacob Masek put Crown up 47-33 just two and a half minutes into the second half. The Poets edged their way back within 1 halfway through the second half. Crown stayed out in front in the last 10 minutes finishing on top 74-67 for their 8th win on the season.

Four Polars scored double digits in a good bounce back victory following a few tough losses. Seth Royston scored 23 going 10-14 from the field and 3-6 from behind the arc. Jacob Van Dam added 15 points, Jacob Masek added 10 points, and Carter Behne added 10 points as well.

Crown shot 44.3% from the field and 33.3% from three point range. Crown scored 36 points in the paint and 17 points off of turnovers topping the Poets.

The Polars move to 8-4 on the season and will face off with La Verne tomorrow Dec. 20th at 4pm CST in their second matchup of their California trip.
