Polars Roll to Big Win Over Gusties

St. Bonifacius, MN – The Crown Men's Basketball team rolled to a double digit victory on Tuesday night in front of the home crowd topping the MIAC foe the Gustavus Adolphus Gusties by a score of 83-75 for their third win in a row.

The Polars got off to an electric start scoring 12 points before the Gusties could get on the board. They continued to set the tone in the first half stretching the lead to 21. The Polars moved the ball around well early, with nine different players scoring in the first half for Crown.

The Polars never really looked back in the first half with the score showing 49-27 at halftime.

Gustavus slowly started to creep back in the second half narrowing the lead to 7 with just 3:40 remaining in the game. The massive first half lead was too much for the Gusties to overcome as it ended 83-75 in the Polars favor.

Crown had 5 players end the game in double figures, led by the duo of Jacob Van Dam and Alec Testerman both with 14 points. Cade Carroll scored 13 early before exiting in the first half. Seth Royston and Jahmar White both totaled 11 points on the evening.

Van Dam also led the Polars in rebounds with 7. The Polars as a team totaled 12 steals.

Crown's defense showed up as the Polars held the Gusties to just 40% shooting and a seven of nineteen mark from three-point range. Crown shot 51.5% from the field going 35 of 68 attempts.

Crown looks to continue their momentum as they play another home contest against Finlandia this Friday at 7pm before heading to play an exhibition match up against NCAA Division 1 opponent, North Dakota State on Sunday at 1pm in Fargo, ND.
