Winona, Minn. – The Crown men's basketball team travelled to Winona on Monday for their final non-conference game of the season, facing off against the Cardinals of St. Mary's University. Despite holding the hosts to just 39.1% shooting from the field, the Storm couldn't manage to keep the pace with the MIAC opponent, eventually falling 69-58.
The Storm defense was in fine form against the Cardinals, with defensive anchor
Seth Royston providing excellent rim protection, blocking five shots and altering many more to help stifle St. Mary's. The Cardinals stretched the lead at the end of the game thanks to seven made free throws to close out the scorning.
As tough as baskets were to come by for the hosts, the Storm found it equally tough to score on the afternoon, converting just 19 made field goals for the game. Royston led the way with 12 points and
Cade Carroll also hit double figures with eleven, but the offensive highlights were few and far between on the day.
Crown now turns their attention to conference play where the team currently sits at 1-1. Both the men's and women's team will travel to Morris, Minnesota on Saturday for a matchup with the Cougars.
