Cougars Use Big Third Quarter to Pull Away from Crown Women

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown women's basketball team hung tough with the visiting Minnesota Morris Cougars on Saturday, but couldn't overcome a tough third quarter in what ended up being a 73-58 loss for the Storm.  Crown trailed by just two points at halftime, but were outscored 22-12 in the decisive third quarter.

Crown was led by Dominique Urbina, who had a game high 20 points, and got scoring contributions from all seven players who saw action.  Unfortunately, it was a tough shooting night as the other four Crown starters combined to shoot 13-52 in the game.

The Storm women battled despite the cold shooting, working to a huge 46-26 advantage in the rebounding battle with both Amy Martius and Shauna Thompson hitting double-digits with 14 and 12 rebounds respectively.  Madison Morken added nine boards as Crown snagged 22 offensive rebounds in the contest.

After Morris pulled away in the third, Crown hung tough in the final quarter, being outscored by a 17-14 margin.

The Storm look ahead to rivalry week as the team travels to North Central and Northwestern on the weekend.
