St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown men's basketball team continued their hot streak with a 93-78 win over Minnesota Morris on Saturday night. The Storm led by as many as 25 points before removing their starters with about seven minutes to play.
The game was nip and tuck for the first 20 minutes, with Crown holding a slim 41-39 advantage heading into halftime. The teams exchanged the lead eight times in the opening half, but a quick 8-0 run out of the gates in the second half saw Crown lead for the entire 20 minutes as they pulled away from the visiting Cougars.
The trio of
Cade Carroll,
Jacob Van Dam, and
Seth Royston were massive for Crown, combining for 70 points in the win. Carroll led all scorers with 27 and Van Dam followed closely with 25 including six made three pointers. Royston recorded 18 and nine, with three blocks and only missed four shots on the night.
The highlights were plentiful as Crown got three big dunks in the game, including an old-fashioned three point play on Carrol's first dunk of the night, and hit on 9-18 three point attempts in the second half.
Micah Ladd didn't score in the contest, but logged ten assists for the third time this season and now sits at 105 assists as he chases the Crown single-season record of 124 set by Truman Shetler in 2013-14.
Alec Testerman also had a well-rounded performance, scoring nine points on just six shots and adding five rebounds and five assists.
Crown currently sits at 5-3 in UMAC play and in a tie for second place in the conference as they head into a huge weekend with games at North Central and first-place Northwestern.
