Martius Double-Double Leads Storm Women Over Northland

Ashland, Wis. – The Crown women's basketball team got back to .500 on the season, evening their record at 5-5 with a conference win over Northland College on Saturday.  Amy Martius scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed ten rebounds to lead the Storm, who won the game by a final score of 55-42.

Crown dominated the game defensively early on, holding the Lumber Jills to just 15 first half points.  The visitors couldn't find their shooting stroke, however, and scored just 31 of their own in the first half.  For the game Crown shot 27.6% from the field (21-76) and 19.4% from three (6-31) and converted on seven of eleven free throws.

The game was won on the glass and on the defensive end for the much-improved Storm as the team held a 44-38 advantage on the boards and grabbed a whopping 20 offensive rebounds.  The team also forced an incredible 30 turnovers against Northland.

Despite the cold shooting night, Crown still saw two other players reach double-figures.  McKenzie Latzke scored 13 points and Madison Morken was an efficient 3-5 from the field and added five free throws to reach eleven points.  Morken finished one rebound shy of a double-double herself.

The win moves the team to 1-3 in conference play as they prepare to host Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran next weekend.
