St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Unlike the opening night of the season, the Crown men's basketball team couldn't overcome a poor shooting night, falling to visiting Augsburg 92-74 on Wednesday night. Crown finished the game with a 3-21 shooting performance from beyond the arc.
Crown trailed by eight, 48-40 at the break, and got to within three points at 52-49 thanks to nine straight points from
Micah Ladd to open the second half.
The problem was, no one else scored for the Storm until the 12:51 mark of the half, and a 10-0 run by Augsburg opened up a double digit lead that Crown would not be able to come back from.
Ladd led the Storm with 19 points on 8-12 shooting and added five assists.
Cade Carroll had another strong performance with a double-double at 13 points and 12 rebounds, and
Carter Behne scored a career high eleven points off the bench.
Alec Testerman and
Cade Neubert each finished with eight.
Crown just couldn't get a jump shot to fall, however, and those offensive lulls were too much to overcome on this night.
Crown now hits the road for eight straight away games, including trips to MIAC opponents St. Mary's and Bethel this weekend.
