Volleyball Drops Match to Yellowjackets

Superior, Wis. – The Crown volleyball team recorded a UMAC season high 24 kills against UW-Superior on Friday night, but couldn't keep the pace with the Yellowjackets, eventually falling 3-0.  The 24 kills marks their second best output of the season, just behind the 32 kills Crown recorded against Oak Hills on Wednesday of this week.

The first set was 25-17 to UWS and was the closest of the three sets.  Crown came out hot in the first, recording 12 kills with a .182 hitting percentage.  As the attack cooled off with six kills in each of the next two sets, the Yellowjackets pulled away with set scores of 25-13 and 25-8 ending the match.

Ashley Earick and Gretchen Warner each recorded five kills to lead the team, while Jocelynn Shockley and Teagan Kuckkahn had four kills apiece, and Gracie Zieroth and Talan Rudzitis contributed three kills each.  Rudzitis led the team with 19 assists and Zieroth recorded a season-high 16 digs to lead the team in that category.  Shockley and Sage Johnston each had 13 digs in strong defensive performances.

Crown plays their final regular season match on Saturday at Northland College before they head to the NCCAA regional tournament next week.
