Volleyball Can’t Keep Pace with Martin Luther

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown volleyball team started out with a competitive first set against visiting Martin Luther on Friday night but couldn't stick to that pace, falling 3-0 in the Wild Athletic Center.

Crown pushed the knights beyond the standard 25 points in set one, eventually falling 27-25, but faded a bit as the evening wore on, losing the next two sets by scores of 25-11 and 25-15.

Set one featured numerous mini spurts from both teams with the score eventually landing on 20-20.  From that point, things were extremely tight with neither side able to carve out more than a single point in a row until the scores were tied at 25 all.  At that point, the Knights were able to scratch out two in a row to take the opening set.

A 10-1 MLC run with the scores tied at six in the second set allowed the Knights to take control of set two and then the visitors opened the third set on a 10-0 run to stake their claim to the victory.

Gretchen Warner led Crown with six kills while Talana Rudzitis topped Crown with 12 assists.  Jocelynn Shockley, Sage Johnston, and Rudzitis all hit double-figures in digs with 13, 12, and 10 respectively.

Crown is off Saturday, with their next match against Bethany Lutheran at home next Tuesday.
