ST. PAUL, Minn. --- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its 2020 winter/spring All-Academic teams on Wednesday, and Crown College had an impressive 46 players selected. Crown College broke an NCAA-era institutional record for most athletes named to the UMAC Academic All-Conference team by the incredible margin of 16 additional selections. Crown's old record was set last year when the UMAC honored 30 Storm athletes. This year it was a particularly impressive accomplishment as the College went virtual after Spring Break due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
"We are incredibly proud of our students and how hard they worked this semester," said Director of Athletics Jamie Ross. "Especially given the difficult circumstances, they really pushed through. An additional thanks to our fantastic faculty and staff who helped make this possible."
Crown Baseball led the way with eleven athletes selected, followed by Men's Basketball with ten selections, Softball had nine, Women's Track and Field had seven, Women's Tennis had five, Women's Basketball had three, and Men's Track and Field had one athlete selected to round out Crown's 46. In the fall, Crown had 41 players named to those teams for 87 total selections this academic year. The UMAC Academic All-Conference team selection is given to individual athletes that achieved a 3.5 GPA or better in the semesters they were competing.
