ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Men's Basketball won their final regular-season game on Saturday as they beat the Northland Lumberjacks 86-76. This game was Senior Day for the Storm, and the team honored seven seniors before the game. One could tell it was Senior Day quick on the court, as seniors took 51 of the 64 shots in the game. It was a record-setting night for senior point guard Zach Skorik who tied a single-game record with eleven assists.
"With playoffs coming up, we wanted to come out, play hard, and get set up for Monday to beat Scholastica," said Skorik, excited to start the postseason. "It's all about toughness and bringing it on a daily basis, something we've lacked in a lot of games. Today we brought it."
As Skorik mentioned, the Storm head to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) playoffs on Monday where they face the No. 4-seeded St. Scholastica Saints in Duluth at 7 p.m. The winner of that contest will move on to the UMAC semifinals where they will face No. 1-seeded Northwestern Eagles.
Senior forward Tim Wendel led the way in scoring with 26 points in the game as he continues his historic run and is now 2,047 points in his career. Wendel added twelve rebounds for his twelfth double-double of the season. Senior Gunnar Ledin added 21 points in the contest and dished four assists, his ninth game of the season with at least 20 points.
Senior Torry Ledin scored eight points in the contest, as did junior Christian Moore. First-year Alec Testerman scored seven points, and sophomore Seth Royston scored five points in the game. The younger Royston brother added two blocks as well. Skorik, sophomore Sawyer Lawhon, senior Josh Royston, sophomore Cole Andersen, and junior Brandon Pratt all scored multiple points in the game to complete Crown's scoring.
Crown College Athletics thanks Tim Wendel, Gunnar Ledin, Torry Ledin, Austin Barton, Nathan Cantrell, Zach Skorik, and Josh Royston for their Crown careers and their successes on and off the court.
