SUPERIOR, Wis. --- Crown Baseball continued their hot streak on Sunday, winning their sixth and seventh straight contests, and starting out the season 2-0 in conference play. The Storm snuck past the UW-Superior Yellowjackets 7-5 in game one and dominated the second game 17-6.
In game one,
Sydney Ness picked up the win after he went eight innings with four earned runs and struck out three. He is now 3-1 on the year.
Seth Betts pitched the last inning and picked up his first save of the year. Left fielder
Gideon Dunn and
Kyle Schroedle led the team with two RBIs apiece. Both
Brooks Repking and
Matt Sanchez led the Storm with three hits each.
In game two,
Derek Albers picked up the win, his second straight after a win against the Carleton Knights on Wednesday. Albers went five innings with four earned runs.
Kress Medina picked up the save for the Storm, going three innings to relieve Albers. In the high-scoring action, it was
Chad Herrera who led the offensive production going 4/4 from the plate with two RBIs. Dunn,
Levi Knott, and Betts also had two RBIs in the contest.
The Storm continue UMAC play on Monday as they face the UM-Morris Cougars in Morris, a game that was originally scheduled for Wednesday as Crown's home opener. The Storm's new home opener will be on Saturday in Watertown at Highland Park.
