ROSEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown Baseball lost a pair of UMAC contests on Thursday, 3-2 and 5-1 in two games highlighted by impact pitching.
In game one, the Storm tied the game in the second inning on a
Camden Wiens single that scored
Gideon Dunn. They tied it again in the fifth inning on a
Bailey Sarto single that scored
Kress Medina in a play contested at the plate. Unfortunately, a late run in the seventh inning gave the Eagles the 3-2 win.
Sydney Ness pitched 6.1 with three runs allowed and three strikeouts. In relief, first-year pitcher
Rico Avila pitched 2.2 shutout innings, allowing only two hits and striking out two.
In game two, the Storm were led by three-hit performances from
Seth Betts, Dunn, and
Kyle Schroedle.
Brooks Repking added two hits in a solid game for the first baseman. Crown's lone RBI came from a
Chad Herrera sacrifice fly. It was
Nicholas Schroedle that took the mound for the Storm, going three innings with one strikeout. Coming in relief was
Eric Newman, who pitched five innings with one run allowed and had an impressive six strikeouts.
Jevon Tompkins pitched a great last inning, with no runners recording a hit.
The Storm drop to 4-6 in conference play and head to St. Scholastica for more UMAC baseball tomorrow morning.
