ROSEVILLE, Minn. --- Crown Baseball faced off the North Central Rams in their fourth series of UMAC games on the campus of the University of Northwestern on Saturday evening, and fell to the Rams in both contests after sweeping North Central earlier this season.
In game one, the Storm held a 5-2 lead in the middle of the eighth inning before a five-run bottom of the eighth inning gave the Rams the improbable comeback, 7-5. In the second game, Crown fell to North Central 0-3, despite an impressive pitching complete-game performance from senior
Kress Medina, who only allowed two earned runs and struck out five along the way.
Leading the Storm for the first contest was first-baseman
Brooks Repking, who hit his first home run of the season, along with a double and a single as the senior was a triple away from completing a cycle.
Bailey Sarto had Crown's other extra-base hit, with a double and
Chad Herrera had three hits in the contest.
Eric Newman had a solid day on the mound for Crown, achieving a quality start with six innings pitched and two earned runs. He whiffed eight in the contest as the junior reached a groove.Â
In the second contest, it was sophomore
Seth Betts and senior
Camden Wiens that led Crown with two hits apiece. It was Betts' eleventh multi-hit game of the year.Â
The Storm drop to 4-4 in UMAC play with a doubleheader against the Northwestern Eagles scheduled for Wednesday in Watertown at Highland Park.Â
