CHASKA, Minn. --- Crown Tennis took the courts against the North Central Rams on Thursday afternoon at Southwest Christian High School. The men played a tight contest and fell just short 4-5 to the UMAC rival. The women fell 0-9 to the Rams for the second time this season.
Caleb Baumann and
Romeo Mork took the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, with Baumann winning 6-1, 6-2 and Mork winning 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, Baumann won 8-2 with partner
Joe Duffy and Mork won 8-2 with partner
Andrew Moorse. In No. 3 singles, Moorse forced a third set and fell 10-8 in the end; in No. 4 singles, Duffy took six games. In the fifth and sixth singles,
Travis Burg and Jake Sporleder both took seven games. Sporleder and
Mike Brewster took four games in No. 3 doubles.
For the women, it was
Abby Engrav and
Abby Yates who took the most games, both winning four.
Lauren Sporleder won three,
Sierra Allison won two,
Marina Ortiz won one.
Emily Eischens also competed for the Storm. Allison and Engrav took three games in No. 1 doubles; L. Sporleder and Ortiz took two games in No. 2 doubles.
The Storm next compete in New Ulm facing the Martin Luther Knights on Wednesday starting at 3 p.m.
