Ruf's Career Night Leads Storm Over Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. --- Crown Women's Basketball won their second conference game of the season as they bested the Northland Lumberjills, 52-50. The Storm held the Lumberjills without a field goal made in the last five minutes in the fourth quarter, leading to their 18-13 fourth quarter to complete a comeback victory. Crown was led by the career night of junior Marissa Ruf, who had a career-high 14 points and six rebounds, along with a late assist to put Crown in a position to win the game. 

Junior Rose Crowns had a great game shooting the basketball, with nine points on 80% shooting from the field. Fellow junior guard Stevey De La Ossa led the team with four assists in the game. She also had five points and a block on a Lumberjill jumper, her second block of the season and first since opening night. 

There were plenty of fouls in the game, with both teams having 25+ fouls. The Lumberjills had two players foul out of the game and Crown had three. All three, Damonyka Roberts, Patricia Gibson, and Brooke Honeck filled out their stat sheets before picking up their fifth foul. Roberts had eight rebounds and a block. Gibson had double-digit rebounds (12) for the fourth time this season and second straight game. She also had seven points, four steals, and two assists in the contest. Honeck had seven points on 67% shooting from the field and hit her only three-point shot of the evening. 

The Storm led the Lumberjills shooting 35% from the field compared to 28%. They also bested Northland shooting 25% from three-point range compared to 21%. The Storm bench outscored the Lumberjill bench 28-19 and Crown outscored Northland in the paint 30-16. Crown returns home on Wednesday as they seek a sweep of the Martin Luther Knights for their last home game of the season.
