Gibson Has Career Night as Storm Fall to Knights

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Women's Basketball fell to the Martin Luther Knights on Wednesday evening, 69-58. Crown had an impressive first quarter, holding Martin Luther to only six points and taking a commanding 15-6 lead. However, the Knights then started a press that not only stifled the Storm offense but created offense of its own in the second period that gave the Knights life (and that would lead them to victory).

The Storm had impressive performances from their starting five, with all five scoring at least eight points. Junior Patricia Gibson was the Storm's leading woman with a season-high 15 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and four steals in an all-around fantastic game. This is Gibson's third double-double of the season and fifth time in double figures.

Junior guard Stevey De La Ossa had 13 points on 50% shooting in the matchup, along with four rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal. This is the third game this season De La Ossa has been in double figures, and only two points off from her season best.

Junior Rose Crowns had ten points in the matchup, her third time in double figures this season. Crowns also added her season block of the season. Sophomore guard Brooke Honeck also had ten points, tying her season-high and made two three-pointers. Honeck also added four steals in the contest. First-year guard Shauna Thompson had eight points in the contest, along with two steals and a block.

Crown had 25 turnovers in the game but did force 26 from the Knights. However, the Knights were able to capitalize more efficiently on the turnovers, scoring 28 points compared to the Storm's 23. The Knights and Storm split the season series 1-1 and now the teams share the same UMAC record. Crown Women's Basketball next heads to St. Scholastica to finish their season against the Saints.
