Martius Can't Miss as Storm Defeat Lumberjills 66-51

ASHLAND, Wis. --- Crown Women's Basketball won their first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game of the season on Saturday as the Storm defeated the Northland College Lumberjills 66-51. First-year guard Amy Martius went a perfect 7/7 from the field to score a career-high 16 points and lead the Storm in scoring. The Storm were tied up at 29 after the first half, but Crown's dominant 24-point third quarter gave the Storm a lead they'd keep for the rest of the game.

First-year guard Dominique Urbina had another fantastic game, scoring 13 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and passing for career-high six assists. She also added four steals to lead the defense. This is Urbina's seventh game in double figures, leading the Storm early in her collegiate career.

Senior Damonyka Roberts was next in the Storm's scoring column with 12 points and six rebounds in the contest, and fellow senior Patricia Gibson had her second double-double of the season with eleven points and thirteen boards, two away from the institutional single-game record.

The Storm led in several areas in the game including 21-8 in points off turnovers, 16-8 in second-chance points, 30-14 in points in the paint, and 47%-29% in field goal percentage. The Storm also shot a blistering 67% from three-point range (but only took three attempts from distance).

Senior guard Stevey De La Ossa had eight points, five rebounds, and five assists in the contest in another solid all-around performance from the Arizona-native, and sophomore guard Shauna Thompson had six points and eight rebounds.

The Storm next play on January 4, as they host a non-conference game against the Mount Mary Blue Angels in St. Bonifacius early in the new year.
