ST. PAUL, Minn. --- Senior forward Timothy Wendel became Crown College's all-time scoring champion on Wednesday after scoring 32 points against Hamline, breaking
Austin VanDerHeyden's mark of 1,516 career points. Starting the game only 19 points shy of the record, Wendel scored a remarkable 22 first-half points to break the record before halftime as the Storm led 42-27. After a brief halftime acknowledgment from the Hamline announcer, Wendel and the Storm had to get back to work as the Pipers threatened to steal the game from the Storm late. After minutes of fouls, missed free throws, and turnovers, the Pipers had two game-tying three-point attempts miss and the Storm survived to improve to 1-1 on the year, defeating Hamline 83-80.
Wendel led the Storm with 32 points and 16 rebounds, along with three assists in the game. Senior guard
Zach Skorik was an assist shy of the all-time game record for the Storm, with nine assists in the contest. Sophomore
Sawyer Lawhon was the second-leading scorer for the Storm, scoring 14 points on 5/6 shooting from the field (4/5 from three-point range) off the bench. Senior
Torry Ledin scored 13 points in the contest, shooting 5/10, and junior

A big difference for the Storm was points off of turnovers, with Hamline outgaining the Storm 21-2, and was a big reason for their comeback. The Pipers made 14 three-pointers in the contest compared to the Storm's 10 but took 42 attempts (33%) compared to Crown's 20 (50%).
