ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown Men's Basketball lost their third straight game of UMAC play on Saturday evening after starting out the season 4-0 in conference play as the St. Scholastica Saints bested the Storm 96-79. As
Timothy Wendel dealt with foul trouble, with two in the first few minutes and four early in the second half, junior
Gunnar Ledin led the Storm offensive attack with 23 points in the game. Wendel was well under his scoring average with nine points, the first game of the season he did not reach double figures.
The Storm held with the Saints in the first half, leading by two points, but unfortunately, travel calls and three-point shooting that came down to earth gave the Saints an easy road to victory. Crown shot an astounding 11/19 from three-point range, but only 1/10 in the second half.
Senior
Josh Volness had 16 points in the matchup, with four made threes. Volness led the team with three steals. Fellow senior
Keegan Oyugi had six assists in the game to lead the Storm. Volness, Wendel, and junior
Kole Jusczak all had a blocked shot in the game. Jusczak also led the Storm with seven rebounds and had nine points. First-year player
Joe Lampkin had the first points of his collegiate career, scoring three points in the game.
The Storm now head on the road to face the Martin Luther Knights on Wednesday as they look to right the ship in conference play. The next Storm home game is on January 26 against the North Central Rams.
