Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Competes in Iowa Tournament

PELLA, Iowa --- Crown's volleyball team took to Iowa for the Grinnell/Central tournament this past weekend. The Storm started out hot winning the opening set against Buena Vista 28-26. However, that was the only set they won that tournament, falling to 0-9 on the season against stiff competition from schools from the MIAC, WIAC, and American Rivers Conference.

Game 1 vs. Buena Vista
Crown started the game off hot with a .329 hitting percentage in the opening set, scoring 28 points to start the game strong. However, the performance quickly dwindled, as they followed that set up with three straight losing sets.

Junior Karissa Steinkamp led Crown with five kills, senior Brittany Rolf led Crown with three blocks, and junior Madeline Svoboda led the Storm with 20 digs.

Game 2 vs. Grinnell
Senior Sarah Reinke and Steinkamp both led Crown with four kills. Courtney Gunderson led Crown with three assists and Svoboda led with eight digs. Grinnell swept Crown 3-0.

Game 3 vs. Coe
Reinke and Steinkamp led Crown again with four kills each. First-year Elizabeth Clark led Crown with 12 assists and Svoboda led the defense with nine digs. Coe swept Crown 3-0.

Game 4 vs. Illinois College
Steinkamp led Crown with five kills against Illinois College. Rolf had an impressive four blocks, Clark led with ten assists, and Gunderson led with 16 digs. Illinois swept Crown 3-0.

Crown volleyball continues their season this weekend with a UMAC triangular competing against St. Scholastica at Martin Luther.
