Crown Baseball Swept by North Central

Minnetonka, Minn. — Crown fell to 0-6 in UMAC play after North Central swept the Storm at Minnetonka High School's turf field. In game one, Crown held close to North Central, but a late unearned run caused them to lose 2-3. In game two, a five-run fifth inning for the Rams allowed North Central to win once again besting Crown 8-3.

Crown faced a 0-2 deficit in the seventh inning in the first match with NCU, but Gideon Dunn's double down the left field line scored Levi Knott, and a Jason Sroufe single scored Dunn to tie the game. However, an eighth-inning run on relief pitcher JT Adams broke the tie, giving North Central the win. Sydney Ness started the game for the Storm and only gave up two runs in seven innings of work, a quality start for Ness. Adams took over the last two innings, and had no earned run, but took the loss with a single unearned run.

In game two, Crown started behind 0-3 entering the fourth inning. Crown then scored on a Brooks Repking single to center field, with Gideon Dunn finding home. Next up, Jason Sroufe advanced on an error to score Brand Hubert. However, North Central opened up the lead on reliever Ethan Hyatt, scoring five runs and taking an 8-2 lead. Crown scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth but ultimately fell 3-8 to the Rams for an NCU sweep. Levi Knott started the game for the Storm and took the loss. Kress Medina had four scoreless innings of work after replacing Hyatt.

North Central begins their UMAC season 2-0 in conference play, while Crown drops to 0-6. Check back on the athletics website or Crown Athletics' official Twitter account (@stormathletics) for updated schedule information.
