Crown Toppled by Panthers 14-41

GREENVILLE, Ill. --- Crown headed to Francis Field for a matchup with the Greenville Panthers, a UMAC affiliate on Saturday afternoon, and unfortunately fell to the Panthers 14-41.

Crown was down 21 points when they found their first score of the game as senior receiver George Green caught a ten-yard touchdown pass from first-year quarterback Devin Westbrook. That capped a three-play, 71-yard drive that was set up by the 55-yard reception from receiver Keashawn Morris from Westbrook. In the third quarter, Crown made it a one-score game when sophomore running back Derek Chilcoate found the end zone to cap a long eight-play drive that went over 60 yards. Unfortunately, it was all Panthers the rest of the way, and Greenville scored 20-straight points to finish off the game.

Crown was led in passing yards by Westbrook, who had 92 yards in the game through the air. Once again, Chilcoate led the ground game with 70 yards on 16 attempts, 4.4 yards per rushing attempt. Morris led the receivers with 55 receiving yards in the matchup.

Defensively, sophomore Jeremiah Jones led the Storm defense with 16 tackles. Four different Crown defensive players had double-digit tackles; junior Hunter Orozco (13), junior Cody Ricketts (12), and first-year Quis Icon (10) joined Jones. Orozco also led the team with one full tackle for loss. Ricketts had a fumble forced and recovery in the game. Crown had two blocked kicks in the game, with both junior Sebastian Alvarado and first-year Jason Sroufe blocking a kick. This is Alvarado's second straight game with a blocked kick.

Crown returns home for the last time next Saturday with Westminster making the long trip up from Missouri to KleinBank Stadium for a matchup with the Storm.
