St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Crown lost their second straight UMAC game on Wednesday evening as they fell to the UM-Morris Cougars 34-53. The Cougars did a stellar defensive job on the Storm and held Crown to quarters of four points (3rd) and six points (1st). Crown outscored the Cougars in the other two quarters, but it wasn't enough to overcome their 14-point first quarter deficit.
Senior Desiree Davis was Crown's leading scorer with 15 points, secured seven rebounds, passed for three assists, and accumulated three steals in the match. She and Rose Crowns (1/2 FGs) were the only two Crown players to shoot above 25% in the game. Sophomore Patricia Gibson had nine rebounds, six points, a steal, two assists and a block in a game where she recorded a stat in every major category.
Crown was able to keep Morris shooting a low 33% from the field but only shot 30% themselves as they struggled to find an offensive rhythm. The Storm drop to 4-7 in UMAC play and face an uphill road as they attempt to take the five-seed in the UMAC Playoffs. They travel to play a team who is undefeated in UMAC play, UW-Superior, on Saturday. Superior is coming off a 76-29 win over St. Scholastica, who is currently in the UMAC's five-seed.
