St. Bonifacius, Minn. — The Crown women lost their first match in four games on Wednesday evening in a contest with the North Central Rams. Both teams were racking up the fouls with 48 total fouls in the game, and nearly everyone that played was in foul trouble by halftime. North Central took an early lead, and while the Storm made a run in the fourth, it wasn't nearly enough to catch the Rams, falling 43-55.
Senior Desiree Davis, sophomore Stevey De La Ossa, junior Kayla Carter, and senior Madison Stricklin were all tied to be Crown's leading scorer with eight points each. Davis was Crown's leading rebounder with seven, in only twenty minutes of action. Senior Andrea Besa had five points, and five steals and sophomore Patricia Gibson had four points, rebounds, and steals. Brooke Honeck had her first block of her collegiate career.
Entering the second half, Crown had five players with three fouls, seven players ended up with three or more fouls, four ended the game with four fouls, and one fouled out completely (Davis). Stevey De La Ossa was able to steer clear of foul trouble and ended up playing 35 minutes out of 40 because of her teammate's trouble.
Crown was hoping to keep up their momentum going into Wednesday's matchup with UM-Morris, who is currently occupying the playoff spot, only one place behind. Regardless of the result of this game, Crown's homestand has been a success with wins over Finlandia, Northwestern, and Martin Luther.
