Roschen Has 43 Assists in Double Header

St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Crown hosted their second triangular of the season on Wednesday evening, and while all the teams present had a single conference win coming into the games, Bethany Lutheran showed they were the best of the bunch winning both games. Crown fell to Bethany 0-3 and Northland, who split the games, 1-3. Senior Kelsey Roschen had 43 assists in two games, bringing up her total in the season to 322 assists.

In game one against Northland, Crown took the second set but ultimately fell 15-25, 25-20, 22-25, 17-25. Senior Alayna Kohler led the way for the Storm with an impressive 13 kills. Sophomore Christine Anderson was serving the ball perfectly and had five aces in the game, along with eight kills. Senior setter Kelsey Roschen added to her impressive start of the season with 26 more assists in that match. Senior libero Michaela Svoboda led the team in digs with 14, with her sister, sophomore Madeline Svoboda, right behind her with 13. 

In game two against Bethany Lutheran, Crown struggled a bit more, falling 15-25, 20-25, 18-25. The Storm were led offensively by sophomore Christine Anderson, who had another eight kills in the game. Kelsey Roschen had another 17 assists. Stepping into the libero role, Madeline Svoboda had 14 digs in the match, leading the team with 27 combined in both games. 

Crown looks to rebound on Saturday when UW-Superior comes to town for their second match in St. Bonifacius this season. The Storm hope to avenge a 0-3 loss that happened last Saturday at the Wild Athletic Center.
