Watertown, Minn. — Crown played four games of UMAC baseball on Friday and Saturday, falling to Northland twice and Morris twice.
In game one against Morris, pitcher
Gideon Dunn had a solid performance with seven innings pitched, and four earned runs in the match.
Kyle Umperovitch had two innings of no-hit baseball to complete the game. Unfortunately, with a lack of run support (
Hunter Foss had two of Crown's three hits), they fell to Morris 0-4.
In game two against Morris, Crown scored twice both off of outfielder
Harry Ballantyne hitting in
Hunter Foss. Pitcher
Tanner Pruett kept them in the match, with only three earned runs in eight innings of work, striking out four along the way. However, the run support stopped at two runs, and Crown couldn't find a way to earn the victory.
In the first game against Northland, there were runs aplenty with 22 total runs being scored in the game, Crown falling to Northland 10-12. Ballantyne led Crown with a double, triple, and three walks with four runs and two RBIs.
David Cruz had RBIs and a double in the game, and
Dalton Wintersole had a single and double for two RBIs, along with two runs and two walks. Foss and shortstop
Kress Medina also had extra base hits in the game.
In the last game of the weekend, Crown's bats cooled off from game one, but unfortunately Northland's did not, as they beat Crown 12-2. All runs in this game came in the first two innings, with
Kress Medina hitting a two-run homer for Crown's only runs in the game in the second inning.
Crown next plays on the third away at Martin Luther.
