Pruett's 10 Ks, Foss' HR Lead Crown to Sweep

New Ulm, Minn. — Crown baseball found the winning path once again on Wednesday as they swept Martin Luther 8-2 and 8-6.

Pitcher Tanner Pruett led the Storm in game one with his standout performance, who had only one earned run and ten strikeouts in his win over the UMAC opponent. Pruett also only allowed five hits and a single walk; Pruett was second in the conference in strikeouts going into the matchup.

Crown's eight runs in game one came through small ball, with Kress Medina having the only extra base hit for the Storm (a double in the fifth inning.) Berend Schnabel led Crown in run production with two RBIs on his single in the eighth inning.

In game two, Crown went up early going up 7-0 by the end of the fourth inning. Hunter Foss led the way in run production, with a RBI single and a home run as the leadoff batter. Kyle Umperovitch also had two RBIs in the game. Unlike game one, six different players had an extra base hit for Crown, with Dalton Wintersole, Harry Ballantyne, David Cruz, and Luke Meyer having doubled in addition to Foss' early home run. Gideon Dunn led the pitching with only two hits and no runs in his five innings of work. Crown withstood a late comeback by Martin Luther to win game two 8-6.

Crown next plays on Friday at Bethany Lutheran to replace the earlier rained-out game. Crown ends their season at home on Saturday against St. Scholastica.
