Dunn's Pitching, Cruz's HR Power Crown to 2-0 in UMAC

Minneapolis, Minn. — The Crown baseball team won its first two games of UMAC play after beating North Central 8-6 and 6-1. It has been an impressive start for both the softball team and baseball team as both teams have not lost a game yet in conference play.

In game one, pitcher Tanner Pruett got the win after only allowing two earned runs on three hits in six innings of work, striking out five along the way. The top of the order of Parker Lippold, Harry Ballantyne, and David Cruz carried the offensive production. Cruz led the team with three hits including a double, with three RBIs and a run in the game. Lippold had two hits as the leadoff batter, with a RBI and three runs scored. He had one extra-base hit, a RBI double in the sixth inning. Ballantyne only had one hit in the game but made it count with a RBI triple and finding home in Cruz's next at bat.

In game two, Gideon Dunn's one earned run eight inning performance held Crown in a position to win the game, with four strikeouts and only giving up three hits in the match. JT Adams came in the ninth to relieve Dunn, allowing no hits in his one inning of work.

Once again Lippold, Ballantyne, and Cruz had great offensive performances with each finding multiple base hits. Lippold had three hits including a double, and two runs. Ballantyne had two hits for two RBIs in the contest. Lastly, Cruz had an incredible game with three hits, including a double and his first home run in the season.

Another note from the two games was Hunter Foss had a combined four steals, showing his ability on the basepaths. Crown next plays at home in Watertown on Tuesday, for their next two games in the conference schedule against Northwestern.
