Roseville, Minn. — The Crown baseball team went to Northwestern in the rain to continue their UMAC play and won game one with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on a
Harry Ballantyne triple scoring
Parker Lippold, who singled the play before. The second game was called in the first inning due to the progressing thunderstorm. Note: the game was moved to Northwestern due to the weather, but still was played as a Crown home game.
Center fielder
Harry Ballantyne was the star of the show, with a double and two triples in the match, including the triple that scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ballantyne had two runs and two RBIs in the game.
Dalton Wintersole also had a great game for the Storm, with three hits in his four at-bats, with a walk, a RBI and two runs. Shortstop
Kress Medina was the only other Crown batter with an extra-base hit, a double in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Pitching for Crown was
Tanner Pruett, who only allowed three earned runs in six innings of work with four strikeouts. He held Northwestern to only two hits in those innings. Pitcher
Camden Wiens held a tie with a scoreless ninth inning (no hits allowed) to be awarded the win after Ballantyne's heroism.
The second game against Northwestern looks to be rescheduled; Crown next scheduled opponent is Friday against North Central in Watertown.
