Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Volness' 24 Points Not Enough to Defeat Rams

Minneapolis, Minn. — Junior Josh Volness had his season-high this season with 24 points scored and five three-pointers made, and also made five of six free throws in a game where free throws and foul trouble controlled the game. Unfortunately, despite Volness' great day, Crown fell to the Rams 87-93.

Sophomore Tim Wendel scored 18 points on 50% shooting from the field. He also added nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal. However, after Wendel had his fourth foul with just over five minutes left, he remained scoreless the rest of the night. Senior Austin VanDerHeyden had a double-double with eleven rebounds and 14 points. VanDerHeyden also had two blocks. Christian Moore also had 14 points in 23 minutes as he struggled with foul trouble early.

Point guards D'Andre Caster and Trey Peace combined four ten points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in the match. Logan Strand also had five points in six minutes. After early struggles this season, Peace hit all four of his free throws late in the game.

Crown only shot 39% from the field, but was 36% from three-point range. Once again, free throws were a concern, with the team only shooting 60% and missing ten throughout the close contest. On the other side, North Central shot an impressive 56% from the field.

Crown stops play for Christmas break, with games returning in early January.
