St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Senior Madison Stricklin had the game of her college career with clutch block late and a putback on a Kayla Carter miss with .7 seconds left on the clock to take the lead in overtime as Crown bested Lawrence in a thriller. Stricklin had ten points and nine rebounds, with four of those points in the overtime period to help lead Crown to victory. She also had a clutch block and had a layup that cut Crown's deficit to two points with a minute left in the fourth.
Desiree Davis had another great game, with 20 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Davis had a game-tying shot on a breakaway after a steal with 23 seconds left in the fourth; Davis also had a block in the game. Kayla Carter was in double figures scoring, as she went six of seven from the charity stripe. Carter also had two steals and a block in the game. Rose Crowns had six points on three shot attempts, as she shot a perfect three of three from the field. Patricia Gibson had a great game including great defense late, with clutch steals and blocks in the game. Despite only scoring four points (2-2 from the field), she contributed in all kinds of other ways with nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Crown won the game despite shooting 22 of 75 from the field, in part due to their 15 made free throws and 18 steals. Crown also combined for an incredible 27 offensive rebounds in the game, with Madison Stricklin and Patricia Gibson leading the way with five each.
Crown hopes to carry this momentum forward with an upcoming set of UMAC games. They face Northwestern Wednesday and North Central on Saturday.
