St. Bonifacius, Minn. — The Crown women had two UMAC games at the Wild Athletic Center this weekend, facing top women's basketball teams in North Central and the University of Northwestern.
In the first match, Crown had a great scoring days from junior
Andrea Besa and sophomore
Kayla Carter, who both had 11 points. Carted added eight rebounds, and Besa had four assists in the game. Senior
Molly Greenfield also added eight points for the Storm. Unfortunately, the Northwestern Eagles played stellar team basketball, with an impresive 17 assists and only 13 turnovers. The Eagles shot 50% from the field on the day as they beat the Storm 81-44.
In the second match of back to back games, the Crown Storm faced off against North Central. Posts players Carter and senior
Nicole Kucza, who combined for 25 points, leading Crown. Kucza's 12 points and ten rebounds were both season highs for the senior. This was her first double-double of the season. Lizzy Swanson carried the North Central team with 31 points (5/9 from three-point range) to secure the Rams victory, 70-52.
The Crown women next play when they go on the road next weekend facing UMAC opponents the University of Wisconsin-Superior and the College of St. Scholastica.
