New Ulm, Minn. — The Crown women struggled early against in UMAC play on Saturday afternoon facing the Martin Luther women's team away in New Ulm. After falling behind 7-23 at the end of the first quarter, they couldn't come back, though had an almost even second half.
They were led by the youth once again, with four of their top five scorers being underclassmen. Sophomore
Kayla Carter led the team with 12 points on only four field goal attempts, making six of seven free throws in the game. Carter also added two blocks, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Tied for second in scoring were two freshmen, Ava Sczrzybak and
Mariah Douville, who both had six points in the contest. Senior
Molly Greenfield also scored six points on two made threes, now her eleventh game with multiple threes made.
Crown had three players with three steals, Carter, Douville, and junior
Andrea Besa.
Crown next plays on Saturday at home against UMAC opponent the University of Minnesota-Morris.
