Box Score Superior, Wis. - Crown College took to the road for a UMAC game on Friday night seeking to avenge a January 3rd loss to the University of Wisconsin Superior. Although Crown was giving up a ton of size to the superior height of the Yellowjackets, Crown was able to get enough buckets to keep the first half close only trailing 43-37. Crown was unable to close the distance and get enough stops however as Superior outscored Crown by eight in the second half for a 95-81 final score.
Superior shot 52.4% for the game scoring 42 points in the paint. They also outrebounded Crown by 11 and shot 21 more free throws than the Storm. Furthermore, Superior only committed six turnovers. Crown shot decently from the floor at 43.1%, but only hit 8-33 from beyond the arc.
Freshman
Josh Volness led the team with 22 points shooting 8-16 from the field.
Seth Moan and
James Brown joined him in double figures with 17 and 16 points respectively. Sophomore
Austin VanDerHeyden put up a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Crown's next game will be on Saturday versus St. Scholastica.
