St. Bonifacius, Minn. — The Crown women struggled against two UMAC opponents this weekend, falling to Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran. They lost to Bethany Lutheran despite a ferocious second-half comeback, outscoring Bethany Lutheran 18-11 in the quarter (and 27-19 in the half).
In the first game against Bethany Lutheran, freshman
Stevey De La Ossa was the high-point scorer, with six points. She did a little bit of everything that game, posting a 6/3/1/2 line.
In the second game, Crown got off to a slow start but did win the second half. They were led offensively by the performance of sophomore
Kayla Carter, who had 12 points, five rebounds, an assist and a block. Junior
Andrea Besa scored 11 points, along with her seven boards and two assists. On behind by ten at the end of the game, it was one of the closer games of the season for the Crown women against a solid Bethany Lutheran team, who are now 2-1 in the conference.
The Crown women next play against Maranatha Baptist on Thursday at home, 6 pm.
