St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Crown's women team fell in a heartbreaking loss to Maranatha Baptist University Thursday evening. Crown led the game 39-29 at halftime, but a ferocious comeback by the Sabercats ended up shooting free throws with two seconds left to win take the lead and the game.
Crown was led by 12 points from senior
Katie Hinkle on 5/7 shooting, who also added three assists from the post. Sophomore
Kayla Carter had 11 points in 21 minutes along with four assists, three rebounds, and one block and steal, leaving the game with an injury in the third quarter. Senior
Molly Greenfield had nine points in the game on three made three-point attempts. Junior
Andrea Besa also had nine points along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Freshman
Damonyka Roberts had an overall impressive stat line, with a made three, two rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Crown had an impressive 20 assists on their 23 made field goals, showing a great team effort on the offensive end. The Storm shot 43% from the field and 35% from long range, but couldn't find their first win of the season.
Crown next plays on Saturday against the UMAC opponent the University of Minnesota-Morris at Morris.
